First and foremost, of course, the Waldschlösschen is all about our guests, because we are personally committed to ensuring that you have a pleasant stay with us. Our service begins with a warm welcome and ends with the wish to see you again soon. It is often the small details that express our hospitality - such as carefully selected works of art, finely prepared meals or a homemade piece of cake with your afternoon coffee.

The fact that many of our guests feel at home at the Waldschlösschen is surely due to the fact that our hotel is a real family business.
"Dipl.-Kaufmann" Hans-Werner Behmer manages the hotel together with his wife Marion. Since 2018 he is supported by his son Sönke and his girlfriend Giulia.
But of course the hotel family includes not only the family members but also all employees - from the kitchen to service, front desk and housekeeping to our GartenSpa team.
Together we make sure that you enjoy your stay.
Art at the Waldschlösschen
Pleases mind and soul.
Our interior design will immediately reveal to the interested observer that art lovers are at work here. The Behmer family has given to the hotel a very special personal touch with selected paintings and sculptures by North German artists such as Störtenbecker, Duve, Thiele, Krigar and Borchert.
The works of the Schleswig painter Erwin - Hinrichs hang in our Bar and gave it its name. In the restaurant Fasanerie, Friedel Anderson's "Still Life with Lobster" stimulate the appetite. Even in the GartenSpa you will encounter selected art objects, including a female statue made of wood that is over 1000 years old and was found during excavations in Schleswig's Harbor, as well as a wall painting with plants from the Gottorf Codex which was commissioned by Frederick III, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp, between 1649 and 1659 to depict the wide assortment of plants that grew in the ducal gardens at Gottorf Castle.
History of the Hotel
Hospitality since 1995.
The history of our hotel began in 1906, when a pharmacist from Schleswig planned to open a restaurant for day-trippers due to its perfect location - directly at the Pöhler enclosure, the former game area of the Gottorf dukes. Here he wanted to offer mineral water from one of the numerous springs.
However, our family businees started in 1955. Since then, the Waldschlösschen has been in the hands of the Behmer family, it has been continuously renovated and expanded over the decades and shines today, with its four stars superior, as the hotel destination in Schleswig.
A recent milestone is the renovation of 36 rooms in our main building, which was completed in March 2020. Our modern GartenSpa was opened in spring 2012. In the future, the Behmer family will continue to do everything in their power to offer you a contemporary hotel experience with a feel-good factor.
